Alexander Technique Dublin

Since 1974, Frank has been practising the Alexander Technique with clients of all ages and backgrounds. With a life-time’s teaching experience, he was the first teacher to introduce the Alexander Technique to Ireland.

Having been trained by Walter Carrington, one of the world’s leading experts in the technique, Frank’s practice is based just outside Dublin City in Mount Merrion.

His approach is simple. He wants to help his clients improve their wellbeing and deal with age-old problems like back pain, muscle tension and stress management. And the correct application of the Alexander Technique can help you do just that. By being more mindful of your posture, balance and co-ordination, you can make subtle but gentle improvements in your day-to-day living and wellbeing.

Frank is a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique, the longest established governing body of Alexander Technique Teachers, www.stat.org.uk. The Society ensures teachers have attained high standards of expertise and abide by its codes of conduct.

His main area of interest are as follows:

  • Learn mindfulness to alleviate stress and physical strain.
  • Improve posture and move with ease – if your posture is not good, you are putting unnecessary pressure on your body. By simply adjusting the way you walk, right through to changing how you sit and stand, we can help you improve your posture and move more freely.
  • Back pain – harmful posture and straining your body when performing everyday activities may well be the root of your back pain problems. Sitting slouched at a desk all day has a major impact on your body and using the Alexander Technique may offer you the pain relief you so badly need.
  • Neck pain – if you suffer pain in your neck, you know that it can have a real impact on your daily life. Using the Alexander Technique will help you adjust your posture and ensure that you start reducing pressure on the neck muscles.
  • Muscle tension – your life is busy and if you feel a little hurried in everything you do, you are not alone. The muscle pain you experience can often be caused by a hectic or tense lifestyle. And this can result in your body maintaining awkward shapes or positions.
  • Vocal strain – The Alexander Technique can help you enhance your speaking or indeed singing voice. If you are a musician, you will know all about the technique and understand how it can help you.

I have had Alexander Technique lessons from leading practitioners on 4 continents. In my opinion, Frank Kennedy is by far the best teacher I have encountered. His methods demystify the process and teach the student how to use the knowledge practically

The Alexander Technique…..is a system for teaching people how to best use their bodies in ordinary action to avoid or reduce unnecessary stress and pain. It enables patients with back trouble to get better faster and stay better longer.  This is undoubtedly the best way to take care of the back and alleviate back pain.

At the start of my lessons Frank said (jokingly I thought) that I could possibly gain height by rediscovering my natural poise. One year after I started my lessons, incredibly I am one inch taller. I now only visit Frank every two months to reinforce my learning. Thanks again, Frank
